MERCY MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
GROCERY ASSISTANCE:
We receive donations of nonperishable foods and distribute them to the needy. This includes donations of money with which to buy food from the Food Bank, as well as canned goods. Anyone can receive food from our pantry once every three months.
To donate nonperishable food items, bring them to the church and deposit them in the “Mercy Ministry” box in the foyer. To donate money for purchasing food, place your cash or check in the offering plates along with a notation of how you wish the money to be used. Or send a check to Iasis Christ Fellowship, 363 Jefferson St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:
We consider financial assistance to anyone who requests it. We have a Financial Team who considers each request and works with the client to fill his or her request, up to one grant each year. Our ability to fill financial requests is dependent on the amount of money available to us for that use.
We have anonymous donors who provide money for this purpose, and we encourage people to give in that way. We believe that giving to those in need, especially anonymously, provides an avenue through which God can richly bless the donor, as well as meet people’s needs. We provide an avenue through which you can give in that way, knowing that each request is carefully and prayerfully screened. (See Psalm 112, especially verse 9; Proverbs 19:17; Mt. 6:19-21; Mt. 25:34-40; 2 Corinthians 9:6-15).
We can match your funds to a particular need, such as single mothers or help with utilities or medical bills. Only one to two people need know who you are and how much you give. Our director, Veronica Arnold, needs to know this information, and if you desire a tax deductible receipt for your gift, our treasurer needs to know as well. Other than that, only God needs to know.
To donate funds to help meet financial needs, place your cash or check in the offering plates along with a notation of how you wish the money to be used. Or send a check to Iasis Christ Fellowship, 363 Jefferson St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
MEALS PROJECT:
We provide meals for people who are temporarily unable to prepare meals for themselves, for example because of surgery. If you would like to be involved in this project, please submit your name and phone number to
Veronica Arnold or call the church at 970-416-9392.
EASTER:
Iasis holds noon prayer services during Holy Week, the week before Easter Sunday. Each day (Monday through Friday) the Mercy Ministry provides free lunches for all attendees, served before and after the service at the church.
To participate in providing these lunches, please contact Veronica Arnold or call the church at 970-416-9392.
CHRISTMAS:
Christmas giving for needy families: Currently we cooperate with Adopt-A-Family (AAF) to match people who wish to help needy families at Christmas, with families who need help. This program provides numerous choices for helping others at Christmas, from cash donations, to gift cards, to gifts for individuals, to adopting an entire family.
AAF began at Timberline Church and has operated since 1999. In 2007 there were nine churches besides Timberline who used the AAF program. In addition, AAF works with nonprofit agencies and for-profit businesses to minimize abuse and maximize benefit both for the adoptees and the adopters.
These are the statistics to date for the 2007 season
Number of Adoptees helped:
- Total - 1015
- Number from Iasis - 6
Number of Adopters helping:
- Total--695
- Number from Iasis—15
Continuing year-round AAF ministry:
Even though Christmas is behind us, the needs of many Adopt-A-Family adoptees continue. Furniture, bedding, house-hold items and clothing are the leading requests. Adopt-A-Family would like to become a resource to connect the needs presented to them with those who may be able to meet some of those needs. If you have items which you no longer use, have outgrown or would like to bless others with, contact AAF at Timberline Church, 970-482-4387, ext 515 and they will match you with a family who could use these items.
"And do not forget to do good and share with others. For with such sacrifices God is pleased."
(Heb 13:16)
